Telco Safaricom has kicked off its Fibre To Home Regional Roll Out Plan that will see an increased number of customers access fast internet speeds from the comfort of their homes.
The Regional Roll Out is part of a strategy to increase the number of customers who can access fast, reliable and unlimited internet.
Safaricom currently has 95,000 homes connected to its fibre infrastructure.
“Customers insights reveal that access to reliable and convenient internet in the home has become increasingly critical, and this for us presents a huge opportunity. Our plan is to ensure that every customer that needs fibre connectivity at their homes across the country can access it affordably and at zero installation cost,” said Steve Okeyo Director – Regional Sales And Operations, Safaricom.
Customers will have a choice of different Fibre to Home internet packages — starting from as low as Kshs2,500 per month with speeds of 5Mbps to Kshs9,999 at 40Mbps per month.
The first phase of the Safaricom Fibre to Home will start with Kitengela town and its environs, targeting 14,000 homes with a plan to reach 40 per cent penetration within the next three months.
Other towns that are targeted in this phase include Athi River, Buruburu, Ngong Road, Runda, Ruaka and Karen.
