One of Kenya’s leading online shop Kilimall has opened subsidiary in Nigeria following its launch in Uganda May 2016 as part of its regional expansion strategy.
Commenting on the strategy Kilimall’s International regional marketing director Larry said Ugandan shoppers have embraced online shopping as internet penetration deepens which has been boosted by increased use of smartphones. “Internet use in Uganda has become vast and many people are embracing it for business and shopping unlike in previous years where they used it for Facebook and other social sites.”
The Nigerian subsidiary is expected to be officially launched this month (September) to tap the biggest online market in West Africa. “There is a high demand of various products by Nigerians and went in to fill that gap,” said Larry adding that the country has lots of potential because of its large population of online shoppers.
Kilimall which recently celebrated two years of operations in Kenya where it controls a huge percentage of the online retail market hopes to replicate this success in Nigeria.
Kilimall’s range of products include smartphones, electronics, fashion and home and living brands, and aims to be Africa’s online shopping mall of choice in the next few years.
